Last month downtown Chicago buildings were aglow in teal to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. Now as Breast Cancer Awareness month starts, we see pink ribbons everywhere. Although it is wonderful and important to support these awareness efforts, with so many types of cancer out there, why do some get more publicity than others? Should it be based on which cancers are the most common? The most deadly?

I've heard purple is the universal ribbon color for cancer recovery. I'd like to see more of that one.
