Electronic Cigarettes, Are They Less Harmful?

Hi everyone. I hope I am posting this into the right category. But I think it is pretty much related to health. My mother has been smoking for a while now and not only does it hurn her health, but it also affects the health of people around her. So, I am considering buying what is known as electronic cigarettes. They are getting quite popular. The only downside is that they are not cheap. You need to buy a battery, liquid to fill it with, battery chargers and on an on. I am actually planning to buy one of  these kits. Before I spend more than 50 bucks, I want to know if anyone of you have experienced electronic cigarettes and if so, did they help you quit smoking? Thank you for your input.

Hi!  I have two patients who are using the electronic cigarettes and both are smoking way less than they used to.  Plus, they find that since the nicotine is pure, they don't need it as much so the liquid lasts much longer than a pack of cigarettes do, therefore cheaper.  We used to be able to smell one patient before we saw him due to the cigarette odor constantly surrounding him.  Now he has his electronic cigarette in his pocket, but the last time I saw him (last week), he couldn't remember the last time he used it.  Must admit, as a health care provider (dentist), I don't advocate any type of smoking but as a way to quit.
