We saw this article about a study that suggests people who opt for organic tend to buy more and take in more calories – especially when it comes to snack foods. Researchers from Cornell University investigated whether the sight of an organic label was enough to make consumers believe the food was filled not only with desirable ingredients but also contained fewer calories.
What do you think?

I can definitely understand how this happens. When shopping at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, I'm much more likely to buy treats/snacks because there's a mentality that everything in the store is healthy, to some degree. While I can easily skip past the aisles of processed and chemical-filled foods at a typical grocery store, I'm much more inclined to buy candy, cookies, chips, etc. if the ingredients are natural. While I'm aware that these foods still have calories, it seems justifyable to purchase. This study is a good reminder, though, that if you're trying to maintain or lose weight, whether or not a food is organic is not the only/most important nutritional aspect to consider.
