Yes, that is me circa 1987. I’d like to think I have come a long way since those days. But there are lessons in the photo that have stayed with me: a blazer completes an outfit and less is more when it comes to accessories (and yes, I’m including the flower in the accessories category).
My mom taught me early on that when you look good, you feel good and when you feel good others pick up on the confidence you give off. I have to agree with her. My entire career has been spent in front of physicians representing pharmaceutical companies and hospitals — first impressions make a lasting impression and confidence is a must. As a physician liaison for Swedish Covenant Hospital, I interface with physicians on a daily basis, representing the organization and what it stands for. I feel it is my responsibility to make sure that not only my knowledge, but also my appearance, conveys that message. And my horoscope agrees:

When I’m not working, I love to shop (and always have). Luckily for me, I work with colleagues (and physicians) who feel the same way as I do. Not a day goes by without conversations about where to shop, who’s having sales and what people are wearing (specifically Kate Middleton). I quickly discovered that I became a go-to resource for my colleagues on these fashion topics, as my inbox was always full of emails that I was passing along to them. This became the inspiration for the blog, as they kept telling me I had knowledge that needed to be shared.
With that, let the sharing begin!
Every Friday (and occasionally on a whim), I plan to post a Friday Find, a tip, a link or sale that I come across during the week.
For this very first Friday Find, I highly recommend that you sign up for Shop It To Me. If you’re not signed up for this great service, do it now. Shop It To Me is the personal shopper that most of us would love to have. On the site, you’re able to identify your favorite designers or stores and it shops the sales for you. You have the option of receiving emails daily, weekly or twice a week. So stop sitting there and sign up!
