Centering during the Holidays

We are all looking for a well balanced life, and at this time of year, it can be a challenge to stay centered. December is a very busy month for most of us. For many, when we need more time to get things done, the first thing to go is our workouts. This is just a friendly holiday reminder for all of my Pilates friends that one of the key principles of Pilates is centering. Try to stick with your Pilates workouts through this busy month. It will help, even if you do a shorter workout at home, try to do something! Pilates offers more than just the physical benefits! 

We talk about being physically lined up and aware of our posture. We work hard at utilizing the actual muscles of the center, our powerhouse. Most of all, though, we try to stay mentally focused and centered. That ability to remain mentally sharp and focused gives us control over our bodies. Concentrating deeply on your body in the present and maintaing that focu makes the workout a break from the rest of your life. My Pilates workout feels like a welcomed oasis from the rest of my life, a few moments in the present that are all about me. Squeeze it in if you can, and enjoy a few moments focused on the center of your body, and on your breath. I hope you all have a beautiful, healthy holiday season. Good luck staying centered!
