Swedish Covenant Hospital has big plans for the northeast corner of California and Foster avenues — eight stories big, to be exact.
You may have noticed the major construction underway at the intersection — so here’s the scoop: In January, the hospital broke ground on a new building, known as the Foster Medical Pavilion, that will house a new surgical facility providing same-day procedures; physician offices for more than 40 specialties including orthopedics, neurology and thoracic care; a public pharmacy; a new restaurant (to be announced); and parking space.
Construction is expected to be complete in the summer of 2012. The building will also uphold "green" standards with LEED Silver Certifications.
Additionally, a block southwest on Francisco Avenue, the Galter LifeCenter will be expanding its parking lot for members, to be complete by this summer. The new lot will replace a building at 5101 N. Francisco Ave., which formerly housed the business offices for the Evangelical Covenant Church.
What do you think about the construction happening in the community? Any thoughts on having a new restaurant in the neighborhood?
Note: The image above shows what Swedish Covenant Hospital’s Foster Medical Pavilion could look like in 2012 from the perspective of someone facing north on California Avenue.

I believe a new restaurant in our neighboorhood is an excellent idea for growth and social development. As of right now, there are a few options for employees, visitors, and vendors to dine. Swedish Covenant Hospital is all about the well being or its patiens and providing the best services to its community.
