Mayan Sol is a delicious local spot, and though it's not much for ambiance, I love the guacamole and quesadillas from Santa Rita at California/Lawrence. I definitely agree with the Jenkins' recommendation for Semiramis, but I also love the Falafel sandwiches from Dawali, another great local spot. I recently stopped by Brendan's Too Pub on Montrose, and the interior was so charming - definitely an upgrade from the former dive bar. I think that it's these (and other) local spots that really add to the Chicago neighborhood vibe. They add so much character; I love it.
