The North Side Inside and Out

Szczesliwego Nowego Roku! Happy New Year!

Szczesliwego Nowego Roku - it means Happy New Year in Polish, in case you didn't know. And what a way to brighten up the new year for kids visiting Swedish Covenant Hospital. Just before Christmas, nearly 500 toys were donated to Swedish Covenant Hospital from Polish National Alliance. This organization, headquartered in Sauganash, rallied together its staff and community to donate toys for those less fortunate. Past recipients have included the Ronald McDonald House and Misericordia.

Toys from Polish National Alliance donation

Our Emergency Department staff was blown away by the generosity, and I'd like to give a special thank you to the folks from Polish National Alliance (PNA) who have been such a pleasure to work with over the past few years. We've taken part in their annual Classic Car Show (if you're a car-lover and have never seen this event, it's worth checking out all of the amazing entries on the back lawn of PNA). We've provided speakers for their senior group (thanks Dr. Kulik-Carlos!). Plus, our CEO Mark Newton has been a guest speaker at a couple Sauganash Chamber events hosted at the PNA. I'm looking forward to what's next with this organization.

As we begin 2012, I'm happy to also report that we have a number of new physicians servicing the Polish community. Our newly expanded Mayfair office is home to the following Polish-speaking physicians - so stop by and say hello or "dzien dobry" if you like!
