The North Side Inside and Out

Supporting our Korean community

If you're following the blog, you know that October 1 also marked the birth of my new nephew, making this particular Saturday even more busy and exhausting than usual!

Each year, Korean American Community Services (KACS) hosts a health fair at Swedish Covenant Hospital. Would you believe that this year was the 34th!?

The comprehensive annual health fair offers participants reduced fees for numerous lab tests, radiology services, screenings, physician visits and pharmacy services. Some services include mammograms, DEXAscans, cervical cancer screenings, chest x-rays and aortic ultrasounds. KACS coordinates the event and interfaces with the community directly to book appointments, but Swedish Covenant Hospital plays a critical role in providing nursing, lab and radiology staff as well as the facility support (the event takes place on several floors of our Galter Medical Pavilion, 5140 N. California). Once again this year, Dr. Han Lim (ophthalmology) and Dr. Joseph Kim (podiatry) also provided services for patients. In total, approximately 300 participants took advantage of various services throughout the day.

Here are a few pictures from the early years of the Korean Health Fair, along with some photos from this year:
