The North Side Inside and Out

Marmalade opens in Ravenswood!

I couldn't let the week come to a close without sharing our delicious experience at Marmalade in Ravenswood this afternoon. We were greeted by the owner (I think) who couldn't have been nicer and told us about some of the menu highlights, including one of the specials that I had - a griddle breakfast sandwich featuring scrambled eggs with zucchini and squash, bacon (we substituted veggie sausage) and their own homemade brioche french toast...a triple decker delight! Others at the table tried out the pesto pasta bowl, salmon omelette, and vegan chilaquiles. Ok, maybe it wasn't the healthiest lunch, but it was tasty...and I split my meal with a colleague so that can't be too bad, right?

I'm anxious to go back and try their Sunday brunch, which features many items not on the regular menu...like Mango and Blueberry Cinnamon Roll French Toast...HELLO!!

It was a pleasant surprise to find one of the nice waitresses from Mia Figlia (a site of one of our dinner series events in Spring 2011) working here too. Plus, as we finished, we were treated to a few samples from their delicious homemade pastry selection...I loved the Sweet Potato & Cherry Muffin - it tasted very much like carrot cake. :) I suppose the only downside is that they don't split checks or credit cards per table...but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Marmalade's homemade pastry samples...yum!

Maybe we can start a brunch series in the neighborhood...wanna come?

Confession - I went back to Marmalade on Sunday to sample their brunch menu. That mango blueberry cinnamon roll french toast is just as amazing as I imagined it would be. Oh the cream cheese filling between the layers...I could have had a bowl of that all by itself. Can't wait to go back!
