Have you been to Flourish Bakery and Cafe recently? Ed and Allison Madell, local Edgewater residents, bought Flourish about a year ago, and they are really doing some cool stuff with the community! For example, each Tuesday they have themed family dinner nights for only $6 a person - this week's was Taco Night (of course!) in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Jessica (the latest addition to our Community Relations team!) and I sat down with Allison to talk about some programs we'll be planning together. Stay tuned for an event featuring healthy grains and bread sampling and likely a stop here for our healthy dinner series. (PS-I must mention that despite my chocolate obsession, Allison gave us a savory cherry and rosemary cookie as we left - what an unexpected, delicious combo! She also gave us a chocolate drizzled oatmeal cookie-OH YEAH!) Check it out for yourself and then join us there later this year!

Speaking of dinner series, our next one will be at LM Restaurant this Monday. The atmosphere at this French gastro bistro is upscale, yet warm and inviting. For 30 bucks (normally you can't get fixed price for less than $37 here), guests will enjoy a three-course meal while learning fun nutrition tidbits and how to make practical and healthy lifestyle choices. If you're not sold yet, here's the menu:
First Course: Asparagus Soup with lemon and tarragon OR Arugula Salad with pickled cherries, almonds, fresh mozzarella and red wine vinaigrette
Second Course: Amish Chicken Breast with wild mushrooms and spring onion OR Organic Salmon with roasted fingerling potatoes, asparagus and truffle vinaigrette
Dessert: Red Raspberry Tart
Ok, I don't know about you but my mouth's watering, so join us! Make your reservations directly through LM by calling 773-942-7585. See you there!
UPDATE: The dinner series was a hit and totally delicious - check out a couple pics below! June's dinner series will be at Uncommon Ground on Devon where we explore Fresh, Local and Sustainable. Be there!
