Getting more comfortable at Swedish Covenant Hospital and in Chicago

I can't believe it has been almost two months since we started at Swedish. I have tried to update this blog, but lost an entry late last night / early this morning. Likely fortunate for any reader as it was late and I was wordier than normal. I will try to shorten it up a bit.

Our move is an experience. We have learned that the Swedish community that we thought was special is more special than we thought. The acupuncturists, clinical massage therapists, physical therapists, pilatis instructors, nutritionists, personal trainers and administrators are so passionate about what they do. They're an amazing gift to their patients/clients, and what a great treatment option for our patients. It has always been challenging to find providers to help our patients through the tough times. How we look forward to the future.

Things have remained busy for the surgeons and our staff at the Chicago Back Institute. Our staff is working crazy hours as working with new systems has been challenging. Thankfully they are bright and getting things smooth. Also since most of our staff stayed on board despite the move, they are getting used to the commute into the city. Their friendship allows them to keep green as they commute together.

Jovy, our office manager, is wearing so many hats. She fortunately has the opportunity to watch her children in preschool from our office as they attend the Montessori child care center affiliated with the hospital.

Carol Talisse, our physician assistant, has missed the summer sun as she has been spending far too many hours at work, and doing community events. She fortunately flew away and is enjoying family and friends at home for the weekend.

Dr. Jerrel Boyer and his children are pretty well settled from their move. His oldest is already in school and enjoying it. He has found his new home to be stimulating and yet homey.

Dr. Fred Geisler, after spending some time hiking and repelling, has finally "moved in" to the city which means his cats have joined him, and his architectual details are almost complete.

I have not done much except enjoy our new Swedish home. I did prepare a lecture on SI or sacro-iliac dysfunction diagnosis and treatment for a minimally invasive conference, but unfortunately a few things happened at work and I didn't get to go. I did send the lecture to a friend and it got me re-invited for next year. Great as it seems the conference was a good one.
