Need a simple, fun Halloween party appetizer? Want your kids to eat something healthy and substantial before they head out to trick-or-treat? These mummy dogs are for you!
This recipe comes courtesy of Lauren Pauls, a friend of our managing editor who likes to get creative with healthy holiday treats.
Ingredients
1 package veggie sausage links (or turkey dogs)
1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls
1 tsp. ketchup
Method
Roll out the crescent roll tube and cut them into tiny strips. Cut the veggie sausage links in half. Wrap the strips around the veggie sausages, leaving just a little space about a quarter inch from one end (so you have room for eyes). Bake according to the crescent roll tube. After they come out of the oven, use a toothpick dipped in ketchup to add the eyes, and your mummies are done!

I made these for a Halloween party over the weekend, and they were a hit!
I didn't have ketchup handy, so I used toasted sesame seeds for the mummy eyes. Thanks for the idea.
